Vision:
A mixed-use path following an abandoned rail bed connects the main campus of Kentucky State University to downtown Frankfort. Pedestrians and cyclists have a scenic alternative to East Main Street when traveling between East Frankfort and downtown.

- Total length: 2.2 miles
- Hard surface multi-use trail: 1.6 miles
- Soft surface pedestrian trail: 0.3 miles
- Marked road & sidewalk: 0.3 miles
Progress:
- 2009: Connection to trail included in KSU Master Plan.
- Summer 2010: City of Frankfort completes title search along abandoned rail bed. Rough trail cut from KSU campus to abandoned rail bed.
- Fall 2010: Pinsley Railway agrees to transfer title of abandoned rail bed to city. City submits grant proposal to federal Transportation Enhancement program requesting funds for trail work.
- Spring 2014: City Solicitor Rob Moore announces that the city is nearing a deal with CSX to purchase land for a trail connecting Kentucky State University’s campus with an abandoned rail bed behind Commonwealth Credit Union on High Street.
- Summer 2014: Governor Steve Beshear announces that Frankfort will receive more than $233,000 in federal funding to build a 5,000-foot pedestrian and bicycle trail along the abondoned Pinsly Railroad bed.
