Ped & Bike Master Plan: The Original 2007

Our award-winning public planning process identified ten high-priority projects that would create a network of pedestrian and bicycle routes through Frankfort.

1. River Walk Loop

  • A 5-mile loop joining downtown Frankfort to Cove Springs Park

2. KSU - Downtown Trail

  • A rail trail connection between the Kentucky State University campus and downtown.

3. Juniper Hills West

  • Connections between South Frankfort, Juniper Hills Park, and West Frankfort neighborhoods, shopping, and schools.

4. Copperleaf Connector

  • A safe alternative to busy sections of Versailles Road and Highway 421 for school children attending Hearn at Copperleaf, Frankfort Christian Academy, and Good Shepherd Schools.

5. US 60 & 460

  • Sidewalks and bike paths on the major east-west routes through Frankfort.

6. Downtown - Capital View Park - East Frankfort

  • Multi-use riverfront trail from downtown to Capital View Park, with links to KSU’s south campus and East Frankfort Park, creating an alternative to East Main Street and the East-West Connector.

7. Schenkel Connectors

  • Upgrades to existing sidewalks and an abandoned railbed to allow safe pedestrian and bicycle passage through the neighborhoods near Schenkel Lane.

8. Lakeview Links

  • Network of pedestrian and bicycle connections through the Indian Hills, Peaks Mill School and Lakeview Park neighborhoods.

9. Devil's Hollow - Game Farm

  • Connection between Juniper Hills Park and the Game Farm.

10. Millville Rail Trail

  • Rail trail connecting Capital View Park to Woodford County horse country.
