The City of Frankfort will be holding a Greening America's Capitals Community Meeting on Wednesday, February 12th at 6:oo PM, at Second Street School, 506 W. Second Street, in the Riverview Cafe. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has completed a plan to promote sustainability and revitalization for the Second Street Corridor in Frankfort. Frankfort was one of five capital cities selected through a national competition to be awarded design assistance from EPA to create healthy, prosperous communities through sustainable urban planning. EPA’s Greening America’s Capitals (GAC) program will help the selected capital cities stimulate economic development, provide more housing and transportation choices and reduce infrastructure and energy costs. Second Street was chosen as an area of focus as it is one of the gateways into the Capital, but lacks identity despite the importance it serves to visitors and the surrounding neighborhood. A pdf copy of the plan can be downloaded from the City’s website at www.frankfort.ky.gov |
